I'm still unemployed folks. However, on Monday Daddy sent me a link to a job posting he had found on monster.com. It was an HR Intership at a company that rhymes with Schmatheon. Apparently it's a HUGE company and I had no clue. SO... Monday I applied. Tuesday I got an email asking about my status in school. Wednesday I respond. Wednesday I get another email asking if there is a time I am available to talk on the phone. Thursday at 3pm I spoke with a Recruiting Specialist about the job. YAY!!! Friday I completed the online application. It's a Part Time position with not so great pay, but the experience would be amazing. And there's no benefits. But again, to have this huge company on my resume would be pretty darn incredible. I'm trying not to get too excited. Gotta keep my cool.
My new class started on Tuesday. Risk Management. Thrilling, I know. The instructor is amazing. He's very structured, organized and focused. And he explains things really well and doesn't talk in circles like other professors. AND... he works at Schmatheon. How cool is that?!
On another note... I'm having some work done to my teeth. I don't recall how many of you know about this, but on the morning of November 17, 2007 I slipped in the shower. I actually hit my chin on the soap dish that sticks out of the wall and then fell face first into the tub. As a result, I broke 3 of my top front teeth. Luckily, Aaron was right there and helped me up as I was screaming and crying. It was horrible. Blood... chunks of teeth. Gross. I immediately went to the oral surgeon who took xrays and told me my jaw was still in tact. We were worried because I had hit it so hard. Anyways, I ended up having to get bonding on those teeth. A few months later I check in with the dentist and find out I have horizontal fractures on those teeth. NOT GOOD. We discussed the options of veneers versus crowns and left it alone for a while. Veneers are soooo expensive. Well last week the receptionist calls and informs me that my insurance company sent them a check for $1,000. My max allowed for the year. This means that I would be responsible for the balance. But the Dr. is aware of my unemployed status and is willing to work with me on the balance. YAY! Another payment plan. All in all, it's great really. I'm getting crowns for the 3 teeth and she's giving me an over 50% discount on the third tooth. Since I still have my original molds from when I got my braces off, the lab can use those to make the crowns. Which means I'll have a perfect smile again. WHOO HOO!! GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!! And again - so thankful that this happened after the wedding.
Um... I worked for S&N again this last week. Two days actually. However, this coming week I have nothing planned. Monday is supposed to be gorgeous and I think CC is coming down. I'm hoping I can talk her into a hike or something. 5 days of nothing to do. Ahh.....
Except, this past week I did go to the movies. On Wednesday. I went to the Elvis theater which is the cheapo theater in town. It cost $2.50. Can't beat that, folks! I saw the Twilight movie. At first, I was in aww. Now that I've had time to think about it I realize it wasn't a well made movie. But it got the point across. Regardless, I am officially hooked on the series and started reading the books last night. Of course I'm still in book 1. I'll probably get through the rest this coming week if nothing comes up. I haven't read for pleasure like this in years. Seriously. I think it's been over 10 years. It's an easy read though. The writing isn't all that great either, but that's ok. I needed something to sort of veg out my brain and take it off other things.
We had the squirt last night and today. He's so darn cute.

Entering week 3
Of being unemployed. I worked for S&N one day last week as well as cleaning at Bean's place. It's all extra cash, which is great. Still no bites on the resume. Although... the HR department from the gov't did call on Wednesday to ask me some questions about school. YAY! My goal this week is to apply to at least 10 places and see what happens. Who knows... maybe I'll apply to 20:-) I also have another friend/mentor that has offered to give me some proof-reading work. That could be really neat because I love a good challenge. Um... overall this last week seemed rather rushed to me. I was basically doing something every single day. As an unemployed person, I am quite busy.
Right now I'm procrastinating on this paper that is due by midnight Monday. I got two additional books for sources yesterday and literally - all day today I have sat and stared at my computer screen waiting for the words to jump onto the pages. Nothing is working. I can't focus. I can't concentrate and worse of all - I can't remember. I hate having a horrible memory with this type of stuff. I want to remember. I want to KNOW. Yet... for some reason it just doesn't sink in. I have to write an 8-10 page paper on God and the Old Testament. Normally I don't mind these types of papers... but this one has got me really stumped. I'm hoping that by blogging it will loosen the muscles a little and something will strike me.
This weekend felt rushed. Friday we had the squirt, but I ran a couple errands. Saturday we had fun and went to the Littleton History Museum/Littleton Farm. It was neat. In the museum building they had a photography exhibit. Then, in the historical areas we got to see some neat photos of old Littleton. Neato. Then we headed outside to the farms. There was an 1860s farm and an 1890s farm. The 1860s farm had an original little house that was soo cool. And there were animals. The squirt loved seeing everything. There were real turkeys, chickens, donkeys, a cow, sheep, a ram and even babies - LAMBS!! OMG they were so freakin cute. I think there were around 6-8 black ones just wobbling around. We tried to feed the cow, but she wasn't all that interested. Then on the 1890 side there was a blacksmith making a grill fork that would later be sold in the gift shop. Neat, huh? The squirt liked seeing all the tools and introduced himself to everyone and everything. He's so darn cute. After that we walked over to the library where he and dad picked out some books. I had to get a couple for this dang paper. Then we came home and the kid took a nap. I then rushed out to get a massage from my chiropracter's office while I still have insurance. It felt wonderful. Then I ran to Target. Seriously, I shouldn't be allowed in that store alone. Ever. Anyways... that night was very low key. Daddy and I got some dinner and watched the first 3 episodes of Season 2 of Dexter. I am hooked on this show people. It's crazy.
Today has been... uneventful. Daddy and I read a chapter from this book I picked up at the library. We are going to make sure and read a book together at least one day a week. I have a whole list of books that have been recommended in class, so we'll be busy for a few months.
Anyways... so here I am. I watched the Oscar's tonight. I have to say, it was actually entertaining. I don't recall the last time I watched the whole thing. But it was good.

The AMES
Ok, so on a happier note.... My friend Ames came to visit me from North Carolina last weekend. She arrived on Thursday and left on Monday. Now, this girl and I had not seen each other in literally 15 years. We met in 7th grade at Jackson Middle School in Greensboro, and became best friends with two other chicks. The four of us were inseperable and had the most amazing year. Sadly, I don't remember a lot of the details because like so many other points in my childhood - I have blocked them out. Regardless... we kept in touch for a couple years and then all was lost. UNTIL... she found me in late 2006 / early 2007. On MySpace of all places.
Anyways... she got married... I got married, blah blah blah. Then last fall she messages me out of nowhere and ever since then we have talked every single day. Be it online... texting... phone conversations, etc. We are glued to each other. Which is awesome. I've missed her a lot.
Ok... so last weekend. She arrived Thursday at around lunch time. I promptly took her to Moe's, the most amazing BBQ place in the west. Ever. After lunch I took her by "He that shall not be named"'s work place. Introduced them. Then I took her to my office and introduced her to all my peeps there. Then we finally got back to my place. We napped for a bit and then went to see the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. For those who haven't seen it... it's alright. Brad Pitt is beyond gorgeous. Mmmm... Anyways. Friday morning we wake up and head into the mountains. I made reservations for us at Keystone's Tubing Hill. So she got to see Summit County and a fancy ski resort. We rode the gondola all the way to the top, tubed for an hour and then headed back down. It was awesome. Lots of pictures posted on Facebook. Then Friday night we picked up the squirt and hung out with him and "He that shall not be named". The 3 of us watched Pineapple Express and then Ames and I crashed. Saturday we woke up... layed around, didn't really do a whole lot and just chatted. Then - Sat night Ames, "He that shall not be named", CC and I all went down to Denver. We ate at our favorite place, Cafe Colore and had a great time. After that we went to ESPN Zone. If you've never been and live in the Denver area, you have to go. It is so so much fun. It's like an adult arcade. It was my surprise to the group and everyone loved it. We were there for a couple hours and played all sorts of stuff. Air hockey, mini bowling, basketball, football... snowmobile racing, nascar racing, etc. FUN FUN FUN. Thank you HR lady at work for recommending such a fun place for adults to hang out and laugh a lot. So much cheaper than Dave & Busters. Sunday, we were lazy again but finally got around. Then we picked up CC and went to the Bump & Grind for their Peticote Bruncheon. Another super fun place to go. We had an amazing lunch there and then went back to CC's. I swear, the food there puts me in a coma! I napped for a bit while Ames and CC chatted. Then I took Ames to Longmont and showed her our wedding site... reception site and a few places I lived at before moving to L'ton. Sunday night we finished our tour with dinner in Boulder at Laudisio's. It was amazing of course. YUM YUM YUM. Then I showed her Pearl St. and a couple other sites. Unfortunately, the wind was HORRIBLE and so we couldn't walk around. Plus, it was Sunday and everything was closed up. Monday we over slept, which ended up being ok, and woke up to the blizzard storm that delayed everyone getting to work that morning. By the time we were on the road the traffic had subsided and things calmed down. We went to the shops off Broadway and took some pictures. I took her to the airport where we hung out for a bit and said our goodbyes. It was bitter sweet for sure. I hated to see her go but also knew I'd see her again soon.
I get my financial aid money this week from school and so I'm planning on buying a ticket to NC in April. I need to see family and friends. Most everyone is there now. Mom, dad, best friends... aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. It's a happening place!
Anyways, I'm feeling better mentally. Don't feel like I'm losing my mind as much anymore. And my health has been great. No migraines... or upset stomachs. YAY!! Now, I just can't stand work and miss my friends. Being in Littleton is a challenge somedays. It's a great city. Quiet, mature... not so busy on the streets. But all of my friends live an hour away. Which makes it hard to get together. Blah.
Ok... that's it for now. I gotta get some pictures on Facebook and update my MySpace. Later peeps.

Happy New Year 2009!!
This better be a better year or I'm gonna be really pissed. 2008 sucked. Big time. The highlights were traveling to NM, FL and Seattle. Too bad I'm not independently wealthy. I can spend money soooooooooo easily. I think I get that from my mother.
As expected, it was an uneventful New Years. I babysat and stayed the night Tuesday and Wednesday. It was an easy gig. This little baby is so cute and so independent. And tough! Plus, having a short work week has helped. Physically, I haven't felt all that great. I'm on my period and we all know how bad that sucks. Oh well. The count down has begun! 6 more days until Ames is here. I can't wait. We are going to have sooo much fun!! And I just learned about a really neat place in Denver that would be a neato place to go. She's going to make me laugh and take lots of pictures. Finally- someone as serious as I am to documenting a trip. Whew!
OH! So last weekend was really fun. I couldn't write about it before because it was a surprise party for one of my bestest friends, Star. Her sister planned this great surprise party and we really did surprise her! I got a little dressed up, chopped my hair, did the nails and hit the town with hubby in tow. It was great. After the party we went to The People's Republic of Boulder for dancing. Of course... per Boulder norm some idiot college dudes made a scene and ended up actually getting tasered! HA! I hid in the coat check closet - literally. We got a free round of drinks and tons of apologies. Whatever... I don't expect much from a college town. It was nice to be with Star and shake the booty a little. Now it's the weekend AGAIN already. Star and I are getting together tomorrow. Not sure what our plan is yet, but just being together is enough.
Um... the weather has been surprisingly warm. I wore a t-shirt the other day. It was 45! Can you believe that?! I was amazed. But it felt so good. Crazy what a few days in the teens will do to ya! AH! And I made the most amazing sweet potato casserole. It is my girlfriend's grandmother-in-law's recipe. SO good. Everyone that's tried it has loved it. SUCCESS! Did I tell you about the pecan pie disaster? I didn't want a repeat of that... so having this turn out was great. I'm trying to cook more. Don't get excited - I'm no Emeril... just branching away from boxed dinners and frozen meals.
Ok, so the hair cut. It was somewhat spontaneous in the happening. I called a salon, they had an opening and I went in. It's short. Not as short as when I got married. but I love it. I'll take a picture and upload shortly. I have bangs again. I know... I know... I said years ago that bangs could never come back. But frankly, I feel like I look better in pictures with bangs. We'll see.
Anyhoo... I'll write more later. Gotta work for the last little bit.
